In the past I've needed images for presentations. Put me in front of a White board, and I can share a design or a concept pretty well, but explaining a concept in writing is difficult for me. My wife has been blogging for some time. She explains that the only way to improve one's writing skills is to actually write.<br /><br />I've tried to start blogging a few times, but have had no success. I would like to use the blog as an opportunity to practice my writing skills. Today, I spoke to my manager about how to get started blogging. His advice was:<br /><ul><li>Pick small topics to begin with. Large posts are difficult to write, taking considerable time, so often never see the light of day.<br /></li><li>Start by commenting about other peoples posts. This provides you with topics, further lowering the barrier to posting.</li><li>Don't expect an audience. Write for yourself, if anyone else cares it is a bonus.</li></ul>My goal is to publish ten posts on this blog in the next month. You all will be witness to whether I can apply his advice to meet my own goal.
